Terms and Conditions of travel with Golden Bay Coachlines

Cancellations and Refund Conditions

Up to 12 hours before departure                           

Re-ticketing at no extra cost, or Refund less 10% transaction fee

Within 12 hours of departure

Re-ticketing at 10% penalty, or Refund less 50% transaction fee

Promotional & Saver Fare Refunds

50% Refund up to time of departure or re-ticketing with 10% penalty.

After Departure

No Re-ticketing or Refund

Refunds must be claimed within 3 months of the date of travel of the first sector. Please keep your ticket until you reach your destination. In the event of its loss it may not be refunded.

Passenger Conditions of Travel


All passengers - 2 pieces - max weight of 25kg each. Additional baggage may be carried at a fixed excess baggage charge per piece.

Carry on baggage - For the safety of passengers, only one handbag or package per person is permitted to be carried on the coach. The company's maximum liability for lost or damaged baggage is NZ $1,500. Baggage accepted for carriage must give adequate protection to the contents and hold them secure.

It is the responsibility of the passenger to ensure all baggage is correctly labelled.

Bicycles and other large objects 

(e.g. Surfboards) will be charged for and limited to one unit per passenger. THE CARRIER DOES NOT GUARANTEE CONVEYANCE OF BICYCLES OR LARGE OBJECT ON THE SAME SERVICE AS YOU TRAVEL ON. You may be asked to remove pedals, cover the chain, fold handlebars and cover any sharp parts.

Other Information

 All coaches are designated Non Smoking Services. Radio/CD players etc. may only be used with headphones.


If you are joining coach services at intermediate "pick-up" points must make yourself clearly visible to the driver.

Important: The carriers are not responsible for any loss, damage due to failure of the service to operate or to depart or arrive at the scheduled time or location for whatever reason.
